How to perfect your layout with Canvas Woo Theme

It can turn into quite a frustrating ordeal to get the layout of your website just PERFECT.  You need a layout that suits both your functionality needs and your design preference.  Layout is extremely important and if you don’t get it right in the beginning, it could end up being that one thing that’s just “not quite right” with your website.

Here are some simple steps that will guide you through getting that perfect layout:

1. Log in to the admin panel of your WordPress site

2. Find and click on ‘Canvas’ from the left side menu

3. Go to Styling & Layout – General Layout

Here you will find a few simple options to choose from.  You can choose how many columns/footers you would like (if any) and how they will be positioned alongside your main content.  Be sure to choose wisely, depending on the content that you have to fill these sections.  Trial and error is always appropriate!

4. One the top you should see Site Width which pertains to the total width of your entire site, including sidebars and widgets.  We usually go for somewhere between 900 and 1200 as this seems to be the most aesthetically pleasing.

To FURTHER specify your preferences of layout, a great tab to use is the Layout Manager.

5. If you hover over the ‘Canvas’ option on the left side menu, you should see Layout Manager as one of the subheadings.

6. In Layout Manager, if you click on the box next to ‘Enable Layout Manager’, this will let you specify the exact sizes of your sidebars and

main content sections.

7. Further down the page you’ll see a heading: Two Columns – use your mouse to slide the grey line to your desired settings.

and Voila!

Your perfect layout.  If you’re wondering what a ‘Box Layout’ is, I’ll explain this on my next post.
